Welcome to the website of RES-COM, a project
funded by the Federal Ministry of Education and Research (Resource
Conservation by Context-Activated Machine-to-Machine Communication (M2M)). Sustainable handling
of limited natural resources and raw materials as well as reducing
CO2 emissions are both an ecological and economical necessity, and a social
challenge. In future, efficient usage of resources such as energy, water,
air, and valuable raw materials will mainly be software-driven and realized
through technical communication between IT-systems.
The concrete vision
of an automatized conservation of resources through highly interconnected and
integrated sensor-actuator-systems (ranging from embedded systems to cyber-physical
systems) becomes a great scientific challenge in the area of distributed problem-solving - whose solution is in reach for Germany as one of the leading pioneers in the field of the Internet of Things.
